Made in Norway. Built for European teams. Why choose Smia

A clear answer to
“where is our code?”

When a customer’s security questionnaire asks where your source code lives and who operates the platform, you need specifics. Smia is being built around European hosting providers, a dedicated instance, and managed operation.

THE PRICING MODEL

Plan for the company.

Flat monthly tiers per company, rather than a bill for every seat. Plans will have defined team sizes, CI allowances, and storage limits. Prices will be shared when invitations open.

Why company pricing matters

GitHub requires Enterprise Cloud for organisation SAML SSO. Its advertised Enterprise starting rate is $21 USD per user per month: 20 users × $21 = $420 per month. The pricing page labels that rate for the first 12 months; terms and additional usage affect the actual bill.

Smia’s planned company tiers take a different approach. Final Smia prices and SSO plan availability will be shared before you choose a plan.

THE CI FOUNDATION

A fresh environment. Every job.

We’re building CI on Firecracker microVMs: a fresh virtual machine for each job, destroyed when it finishes. That describes the job environment, not deletion of your build records.

The forge, up close.

Smia runs on the same forge it sells — these are real screens from a Smia instance, shown with a demo company’s data. The green check is a genuine CI pass in an isolated microVM.

Familiar tools.
Fair questions.

Who is the first release for?

European software companies, agencies, and product teams that need private repositories and want a managed European platform. We’re starting with company teams, roughly 10–75 developers, and opening by invitation.

Can we bring our existing repositories?

Smia is built on Forgejo and standard Git. We’re planning migration support for existing repositories. Issues, pull requests, permissions, and other forge data need a separate migration check; a Git transfer alone doesn’t bring everything across.

What about our GitHub Actions workflows?

CI is being built around Forgejo Actions and its familiar workflow format. Existing workflows and third-party actions will need a compatibility review before switching. We’re planning tooling to help identify changes.

Can we take our code with us?

Your Git repositories stay portable. We’re also planning encrypted backups you can retrieve yourself. A full move includes issues, reviews, settings, and other forge data; we’ll document that export and restore process before onboarding.

New ways to build.
Same need for trust.

As agents write more code, knowing who changed what matters more. Our direction: agent identities, clear permissions, and a traceable path from intent to change.
